You won’t find sales assistants at Golf Universe who have never played golf. Each of us has our own handicap, our own favourite course and our own view on which driver is best this year. Which is exactly why we’ll also tell you what we don’t rate.
Owner and PGA fitting specialist
He opened Golf Universe in 2009 with two shelves and a Trackman bought on finance. He plays off 3.4, calls Bernolákovo home, and gets most satisfaction from a customer gaining twenty metres after a fitting without changing a thing in their swing. He will happily explain why loft matters more than the logo.

Head of the service workshop
Thirteen years in and he has regripped more clubs than he could count, still insisting half his customers run theirs a year too long. He plays off 8 at Hrubá Borša and likes his workshop quiet and tidy. He bends lie angles to a tenth of a degree and will not be rushed.

Fitter — irons and wedges
A former junior coach who came to equipment through an obsession with the short game. He plays off 5 at Penati and carries four wedges, which his playing partners never let him forget. He can talk about bounce for an hour, and it is worth listening to.

Customer support and online store
She will sort your order, your return, and the question you were too embarrassed to ask. She plays off 16 at Báč and practises putting on the living-room carpet, which she maintains works better than any new club. She answers emails faster than is entirely healthy.

Bags and trolleys specialist
He knows the mounting system of every trolley sold in Slovakia and can tell you in a minute whether your bag will fit. He plays off 12 at Welten Báč and takes trolleys personally, walking every round even in August. He tests batteries on his own rounds first.

Apparel and footwear
She came from outdoor retail, so she knows more about membranes and hydrostatic heads than most golf apparel brands do. She plays off 21 at Bernolákovo and refuses to accept that anyone can play golf in a cotton T-shirt. She sizes shoes by eye and is almost never wrong.

He is the reason orders placed before two in the afternoon leave the same day. He plays off 24, mostly nine holes at Malacky after work, wherever he can get a slot. He knows exactly which box fits which boot and is never wrong about it.

She handles corporate golf days from ten people to two hundred, printed balls and embroidered bags included. She plays off 18 at Hrubá Borša and argues the best corporate gift is the one that actually reaches a golf course. She hits deadlines when nobody else will promise them.
