About us
Golf Universe wasn’t founded by an investor spotting a gap in the market. It was founded by a coach who had had enough of the way things worked in Slovakia. Miroslav Wieger Jr. hit his first ball in Bernolákovo in the spring of 1997, co-founded the Wieger Golf Academy in 2001, and his pupils kept asking him the same question: "Which clubs should I buy?" Back then there was no honest answer – nowhere to measure and nothing much to choose from.
The first shop measured exactly 25 m² in a Bratislava indoor centre during the 2006/2007 winter season. One rack, one desk and one fitter who sat down with the player and measured. In 2007 we added a branch in Dunakiliti, Hungary, and in November of that same year a 294 m² shop on Stará Vajnorská. The online shop went live in March 2015. And on 1 March 2023 we opened what we’d wanted all along: nearly 500 m² on Galvaniho 35a.
Today you’ll find an indoor driving range, a four-hole putting green, a dedicated fitting centre running Trackman iO and our own workshop, where a grip is changed while you wait. What hasn’t changed in all those years: you can walk in, hit a hundred balls and leave without buying a thing. If your clubs are fine, we’ll tell you so. Come back when it makes sense.

We never wanted a wall of boxes. The space on Galvaniho is built so you can genuinely hit every club – indoor driving range, four-hole putting green and a fitting centre with Trackman iO. Bring your own clubs and compare them with whatever you are considering. You’ll see the difference in the numbers on screen, not in our sales patter. And yes, there are twelve parking spaces right outside the door.
You won’t find sales assistants at Golf Universe who have never played golf. Each of us has our own handicap, our own favourite course and our own view on which driver is best this year. Which is exactly why we’ll also tell you what we don’t rate.
Owner and PGA fitting specialist
He opened Golf Universe in 2009 with two shelves and a Trackman bought on finance. He plays off 3.4, calls Bernolákovo home, and gets most satisfaction from a customer gaining twenty metres after a fitting without changing a thing in their swing. He will happily explain why loft matters more than the logo.
Head of the service workshop
Thirteen years in and he has regripped more clubs than he could count, still insisting half his customers run theirs a year too long. He plays off 8 at Hrubá Borša and likes his workshop quiet and tidy. He bends lie angles to a tenth of a degree and will not be rushed.
Fitter — irons and wedges
A former junior coach who came to equipment through an obsession with the short game. He plays off 5 at Penati and carries four wedges, which his playing partners never let him forget. He can talk about bounce for an hour, and it is worth listening to.
Customer support and online store
She will sort your order, your return, and the question you were too embarrassed to ask. She plays off 16 at Báč and practises putting on the living-room carpet, which she maintains works better than any new club. She answers emails faster than is entirely healthy.
